Think about a time when you exaggerated something to make a point, tell a story, or get someone's attention. What happened? What did you say? Why did you exaggerate? Looking back, do you think your exaggeration made your message more effective? Explain. (Oct. 12th)
There have been multiple times where I have had to exaggerate stories to prevent my little sister from doing something dangerous, such as making up stories of stuff that has happened to me or warning her about scary monsters. Even though it's kind of stupid, it works since she's young. She still believes in stuff like that, and most of the time, it does actually make her listen to me. Of course, once she grows older that probably won't be as effective, but hopefully, she will be less impulsive and more matured by then.
Summary: Today in class, took notes and did practice on hyperbole and understatement.
Reflection: My experience of exaggerating stories to make my little sister listen to me is a great example of hyperbole being used in modern day.
