What is the most creative thing you have ever made? Share what it was and explain why it stands out as your best work. (Aug. 18)

I believe one of the most creative things I have made is an alternate universe for an anime I'm super interested in at the moment. Even though it is currently unfinished and still in the works, I consider it one of my most creative and thought-out works. It also means quite a lot to me since my best friend has tremendously contributed to the making of it. I'm super motivated to continue working on it and hope that someday I'll build up the courage to put it out there for others to see as well.

Summary: Today in class, we discussed the mnemonic SPACECAT, and analyzed a speech by Donald Trump as a reference.

Reference: I'm honestly not sure how to connect my response to what we learned in class today... I think maybe in some of the things I end up writing in the future, I could potentially use SPACECAT to further elaborate my ideas maybe.

Which learning method do you enjoy the most? Class discussions, worksheet work, or hands-on activities. Select one and tell why. (Aug. 25)

I personally prefer hands-on activities the most when it comes to learning methods. Even though hands-on activities within the classroom usually require conversations with others, which tends to make me nervous and isn't quite my ideal as I prefer to work by myself, being able to learn through experience has always been the best way to get something to stick to my brain. Class discussions can sometimes be hard to pay attention to, and the same case goes with worksheets sometimes too. I also find it helpful to be doing hands-on activities because it usually means I can observe what others are doing and follow their lead to understand what works best for me and in general what a real situation of something may look like. Summary: Today in class, we continued working on rhetorical situations and used another former AP Lang free-response question to practice with again.  Reflection: I enjoy how during our assignment in class today, it technically counted as both a ...

Think about the word or phrase you find yourself using the most right now. (Aug. 31)

Lately, I've been saying "question mark" after a lot of my sentences, verbally and over text. I've found myself saying this after asking someone a question or whenever I'm unsure about something I or someone else has said. I'm not too sure why it's been a part of my everyday speech lately, but it could be because I have heard a couple other people saying it around me in similar ways, and I tend to pick up phrases from others pretty easily. I think it helps me communicate better to others, since sometimes my friends or peers have a hard time deciphering what I mean through what I say. Summary: Today in class, we went over vocabulary words. We took notes of them in our notebooks and did practice questions as well. Reflection: I find it a bit funny how, compared to the vocabulary words we covered in class today, such a simple phrase has found its way into my vocabulary instead of something more fancy. I do think that practicing with the vocabulary will help m...

Think about a time when you made a claim or gave an opinion, but someone asked you, “Why?” or “How do you know?” Describe the situation. What evidence did you use to support your point, and why is explaining your evidence just as important as providing it? (Aug. 26)

The last situation I can clearly recall where I gave an opinion and was asked "Why?" was when I was unfortunately breaking up with my ex-boyfriend. He asked me why I was breaking up with him, and I provided him quite a lot of reasons and evidence to back up it up. A lot of this included times where he did something that upset me, and I made sure to be as clear and concise with my wording as well, and went into detail on these events to rack his memory of them. Because of this, I do believe explaining your evidence is just as important as providing it, because it shows your credibility on the point you're making. By explaining the evidence you provided, it exemplifies the knowledge you possess, which has usually be gained through experience. Summary: Today in class, we read "Ambush" by Tim O'Brien on Writeabe to introduce us to the prompt of our assignment. Reflection: There is a vast variety of situations where someone might be required to provide eviden...
